The founding fathers knew that the Constitution would need to be changed as time went on. Therefor, they came up with the great idea of the Amendment Process.
STEP 1. To Propose the amendment either two-thirds of both the houses of congress, or two-thirds of the State Legislatures need to agree with the proposal.
When a Congressman is trying to have his Amendment proposal accepted, he should work with a Congressman of the opposite political party.
STEP 2. After the Amendment proposal is accepted, it needs to be ratified. For the Amendment to become ratified three-fourths of the state legislatures, or three-fourths of the state conventions must ratify it.
Only twenty-seven of ten thousand amendments have been approved!
